JOIN US FOR THE 2026 TRAIL TREK!

The Battle Creek Heritage Park is a great place to discover Battle Creek's rich history as you walk along pathways dotted with History Walk Stands that share the stories, people, and photos of the town.
You'll learn about Nebraska's first woman aviatrix, the creator of the Kewpie dolls, and the first Nebraska Community Betterment Award recipient.
Over 750 Nebraska native plants and 70 bushes make a lush surrounding while you sit in one of the many seating areas, grab a book from our lending library, or have a picnic at one of the tables.
Mark your calendars for our annual Skillet Toss competition
August 14th, during the Battle Creek Summer City Fest

SKALA CABIN
"The structure is a masterpiece of ancient Slavic carpentry skills so old they are rare even in Europe. This Czech technique is distinguished from similar methods by the use of thin planks set within a post-and-beam frame. Known as post-and-panel construction, this is the only example in Nebraska."
HERITAGE MUSEUM
The Heritage Museum was Dr. Edward Tanner’s office from 1881 through 1935. The building served many purposes, including as a restaurant, a car dealership, and the first REA facility.
It now showcases Battle Creek's historical treasures for visitors to enjoy.
HISTORY WALK
The Battle Creek History Walk showcases photos and stories of the town’s history from the first settlers through the 1930s.
Currently, twenty-four stands are placed along the walking paths to educate, entertain, and celebrate the people and places that make Battle Creek and the surrounding areas so unique.
TEPEE
Each year, a 20 foot, 14 foot diamenter tepee is erected in the park to honor Native Americans, especially the Pawnee tribes that once lived in this area.
A 3-Sisters garden is also planted each year, educating visitors on the Native Americans' wisdom in growing food, and many of the plants and grasses in the park were used by the tribe for medicinal purposes.
